Parents of students with an email address on file should expect to receive an automated email next week with their child’s progress report attached.

How To Interpret Academic Grades On A Progress Report

SDUSD is in the process of converting secondary schools to a standard-based grading model. The traditional A/B/C/D/F grading system you experienced as a child no longer applies.

Keep the following in mind when viewing your child’s progress report:

  •  2022/23 is a transition year. Teachers are using standards-based grading strategies BUT traditional A/B/C/D/F grades will continue to appear on the progress report.
  • Traditional percentage intervals (i.e. 90-100% = A) have been replaced with new intervals that are more mathematically accurate. Click this link for more info.
  • The meaning of letter grades has changed.

We developed a conversion chart to assist parents with interpreting their students' academic grades. Click this link for more information.

Dana Boys Basketball To Play Correia Middle 10/15

The Dana boys basketball team will be playing against the Correia team on Saturday at 7pm at La Jolla High School. Join us as we cheer on the Dana students. Our team has been working hard and getting better every week, especially considering they are the only team of sixth graders playing against mostly seventh and eight graders!

Dana Families Support San Diego Humane Society

Thank you so much for helping to encourage students to participate in our ASB community outreach event for the San Diego Humane Society this week.

CoNGraTuLaiONs to Ms. Kocar's period 1 class who won the competition with a donation of 25 items.

Many period 1 classes provided wonderful donations that will fulfill a great need for our local furry friends.  Collectively our school has donated a total of 135 items including pet beds, toys, treats, leashes, and collars. Great job!

Thanks again for supporting a local non-profit organization. - Karen O'Hern - ASB

Halloween Grams Oct. 25-26

ASB will have Halloween Grams for sale out on the blacktop in the morning before school from 7:30 - 7:50am on October 25th and 26th. Students can purchase grams to treat a friend, teacher, or staff member.  Grams cost $.50 cents each and include a note with a treat.  They will be delivered to students at the end of period 6 on Friday, October 28.

Minimum Day Oct. 26-28 Parent-Teacher Conferences

Dana Middle will conduct parent/teacher conferences on Wednesday, October 26th. through Friday, October 28th. We will follow a minimum day schedule during these days. School will end at 12:35 PM. School staff will reach out to families regarding our meeting schedule.

We place a priority on meeting with children experiencing academic difficulties. This is due to the logistical challenges associated with the large number of students any given teacher works with during the six period day. Families requesting a conversation should communicate directly with the teacher.

ASB Fundraiser 10/25-11/15 - Cookie Dough

The ASB class is responsible for conducting our monthly spirit days. Most recently they organized Western Day where students dressed up in their favorite western wear and participated in fun lunch activities such as horse racing, ring toss, and western dancing..all while listening to music!

These events are made possible by our ASB fundraising activities. The Dana ASB is conducting a Mrs. Field’s Cookie Dough Fundraiser. Proceeds will be used for upcoming spirit days, dances, field day, and other fun activities throughout the school year. You can even order online! Cookie Dough order forms will be sent home on Tuesday, October 25th. Ask your child for the form and purchase cookie dough for your friends and family. Orders are due Tuesday, November 15th. Orders will arrive in time for the winter holidays. More information to come!
