Incoming Words from Principal Bosselman
Thank you to all for the warm welcome that the students, staff, families and community members made for me as I arrived at Dana this week. The first day back from the break was a beautiful moment where I saw smiles, hugs and high-fives across the board—with students reunited with friends, and teachers reconnecting with students in this new year. This first week was a great welcome for me to see the beauty of Dana Middle School.
Coffee with the Principals
This Thursday, January 4th we had our Coffee with the Principals and had some great conversations about the current state of Dana and the future direction of travel. Thank you to the parents and guardians who attended our session. We completed an activity to generate ideas for Mr. Bosselman and Mr. Simon as they move into planning for the future of the school. If you would like to complete the activity that the attendees did, you can fill out this google survey.
Moving forward, the Coffee with Principals will be on the first Thursday of every month at 9am. Also, it will be a “bring your own coffee” and a chance to chat with the principals. As we get closer to the next one, we will share the upcoming theme for that session.
Rewards Recess
Before the December break, over 65% of students qualified for our rewards recess. This means for Progress Report 2, they had a GPA of 3.5 or above and/or received 2 or more E’s (excellent) for their citizenship mark. We recognized these students with a certificate for what they qualified for and also had them released from class on 12/14 to partake in a 6th period extra recess on a minimum day. We review these criteria every 6 weeks. Our next rewards recess and certificate distribution will be towards the end of January/early February. Please encourage your student to work on their citizenship daily here at Dana MS.
Budget Survey
In preparation for our 2024-2025 budget development, we are requesting your input regarding the needs of our site that will help inform future budgeting conversations and decision-making processes. The site will use information from this needs assessment to develop budgets and strategies for the 2024-25 school year. All surveys received will be reviewed by the site.
Your time and input are appreciated as we consider our budgeting needs for the 2024-25 school year.
Please complete this form by Wednesday, January 10, 2024.
