Dana Robotics Compete in First Lego League Regional Competition

Both Dana Robotics Teams competed in the First Lego League Regional Event this past weekend after qualifying in earlier events in November.  At the Regionals, Team Atomizers won the "Rising All-Stars Award” recognizing the team’s successes and potential in all of the competition categories, including the robot game and additional competition areas of robot design, innovation project, and core values.  The students overcame glitches with their robot and also scored a team personal best in the Robot Game portion of the competition during their Round 2.

Team Unspiked/Get Spiked also competed on Saturday and performed really well. The team earned high marks for their embodiment of the First LEGO League core values and their concept model for the Innovation Project. The students had a fantastic season and came together as a team to build lasting bonds and develop engineering problem solving skills that will serve them for a lifetime.

Congrats to both Dana teams and their coaches for all their hard work!

Save The Date - Jan. 11th - Parent Education Night - Helping Students With Anxiety

PL Cluster Parents are invited to attend a free informational presentation on January 11th from 5-7 PM. Andrew McPeak - co-author of Generation Z Unfiltered will share practical ways to help the most anxious generation of students navigate stress. See below for an excerpt from the presentation:

From school assignments and soccer practice, to school shootings and social media; today's kids are stressed out. For more than a decade, rising levels of anxiety and depression have led Generation Z into what today's psychologists call an "anxiety epidemic." In this timely session, we will uncover the greatest sources of stress for Generation Z and provide practical insights and proven techniques for helping them beat stress and take ownership of their life.

The event will be held at the PLNU Center located in Liberty Station. The first 200 families to arrive will receive a free copy of the book. This free event is sponsored by various parent association groups in the Point Loma cluster. Download the informational flyer.
