We hope everyone is having a great summer! The new school year is just 2 weeks away, and in order for the 1st day and early fundraising activities to go off without a hitch, we need some help from those of you who can.

Below is a quick list of our most immediate needs. If you can help, please shoot an email to [email protected] as soon as possible. We thank you in advance for helping make this school year one of the best yet.

  •  Schedule/Covid test kit distribution at Orientation Day: Are you planning to go already and want to help or engage students while your child reconnects with friends and checks out their new schedule? Looking for 5-6 parents to help out on Friday morning, August 26.
  •  Jog-a-thon: This was our biggest fundraiser (oh, the amazing educational benefits thanks to this!) last year, and it’s scheduled to take place in Oct this year. It takes a village to make this puppy happen, so if you have time to help out with any of the many activities that it takes to pull it off, let us know! (We’ll share more details on this soon, but we’d love to see some parent involvement as soon as possible).

We’re excited to see everyone this year. Please let us know if you can help, and enjoy these last two weeks of summer!

Sign Up For Dana Middle Basketball and Track Team Tryouts

Students in grades 6-8 will now have the opportunity to take part in organized team sports this fall, thanks to an expansion of the San Diego Unified School District's new middle school athletics program.

Registration is now open for basketball and track & field, which will run concurrently this fall with a start date of Tuesday, September 6. All students in grades 6-8 will be invited to tryouts and practice for whichever of the two offered sports they choose.

While sports clubs had previously existed at some individual schools, middle school athletes across the district now have access to qualified coaching and a chance to represent their community in competition against other schools.

Teams will play at their neighborhood high school athletic facilities, giving the young students a chance to establish a connection and familiarity with their future schools.

The district plans to offer additional sports for winter and spring, including flag football, volleyball, and soccer. For basketball and track this fall, all 6th - 8th grade parents are encouraged to sign up as soon as possible
