5th and 6th Grade Parents To Take California Schools Parent Survey

Dana Families - we need your help. The district has set a goal for 70% of our families to take this survey. As of today only 50 families have responded. Please click this link to take the survey today! - https://wested.ugam-apps.com/wed/ts/naZQ

All 5th and 6th grade parents are encouraged to take the California Schools Parent Survey (CSPS) before May 21st.

Please click this link to access the survey: https://wested.ugam-apps.com/wed/ts/naZQ

The CalSCHLS system was created by the California Department of Education (CDE) in 1997 to efficiently and cost-effectively provide school districts and their partner communities with quality local data which can be used to improve student academic performance and social-emotional, behavioral, and physical health of all youth. It assesses key indicators linked to success in school, career, and life. There are three parts to this survey:

  •  California Healthy Kids Survey (CHKS) - Completed by 5th grade students in their Social Studies classroom on Wednesday, March 23rd
  •  California School Staff Survey (CSSS) - taken by Dana Staff
  •  California School Parent Survey (CSPS)

All three surveys were developed by WestEd with the help of Duerr Evaluation Resources and expert advisory committees of educators, researchers, and practitioners. The staff and parent surveys were added to address the needs of districts for data on school working conditions, parent involvement, and enable comparison of staff and parent perspectives to student self-reports. Follow this link for more information.

Parents can choose to opt their child out of this survey. Click this link to submit your opt out form.

Support Available For Families Around Mask Rules

As a reminder, all students, staff and visitors must wear masks while indoors at all schools and other district properties until Spring Break.

After students and staff return to campus on April 4 following Spring Break, masks will continue to be strongly recommended but no longer required. All other COVID-19 mitigation strategies, policies and safety precautions remain in place.

As a school community, it is important to keep in mind the unique feelings and circumstances of each individual in their choice to continue wearing a mask or not after April 4. We fully support the decision of all students, families, and staff. Harassment or bullying of anyone based on this personal choice will not be tolerated.

Below are some great resources for staff and families to help students understand and ease fears and anxiety they may be experiencing:

San Diego Unified remains committed to fostering a culture of respect among all members of our school community. Thank you for your partnership in this effort to focus on helping all students feel safe and valued in a place of learning and growth.

Save The Date For Parent Internet Safety Night - March 22nd

We are offering an informational parent presentation regarding Internet safety.  The Internet is an amazing place where kids spend a lot of time socializing and exploring.  Unfortunately, there are risks involved when having access to so many digital platforms and cyber communities.  It's really important for parents to stay informed about child cyber safety.  The San Diego Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force (SD-ICAC) and the San Diego Police Foundation are providing tools to help families manage their online lives.  Learn about cyberbullying, social networking, gaming, sexting, and online predators.  Parents and guardians are invited to attend this important community event on March 22, 2022 from 6:00-7:00 PM.

The presentation will be on Zoom. The presenters want a protected online environment. No recordings or pictures are allowed. All participants must sign in with their first and last names. They are asking for cameras and audio to remain off.
