Curriculum Night September 14th

Our Curriculum Night event is scheduled for Wednesday, September 14th from 4:30 to 6:30 PM. This is an in-person event.


At back to school curriculum night you can expect to visit your child’s classroom and meet your child’s teachers. You will also learn about the curriculum and instructional goals for the school year. You will follow your child’s schedule, periods one through six. A detailed schedule of the event is available for download


Vote For Your Dana SSC & SGT Parent Representatives

Dana Middle School is conducting an election to identify parents for the following positions:

  •  Dana School Site Council & Site Governance Team Parent/Community Representative (2 positions)

Please submit your vote using this form before Friday, September 16, 2022 at 5:00 PM.  The results of our election will be announced on Saturday, September 17, 2022. Our SSC and SGT meets in-person on the 4th Wednesday of every month. Click this link to learn more about these committees.


Save The Date - Fall Student Portraits 9/21

Dana students will have their fall portrait taken on Wednesday, September 21st. Portraits will be taken in the auditorium during their Language Arts classroom. Information on how to order student photos will be distributed as soon as it becomes available.


Update Re: After School Athletics

See below for an informational letter distributed to families by the SDUSD Athletics Department regarding changes to the SDUSD after-school athletics program. Dear San Diego Unified Families,

Due to the challenges with regards to the heat temperatures this past week, the Athletics Department has adjusted the timeline for the fall middle school athletics season. To ensure all sites/coaches are given equitable time to evaluate student athletes, we are allowing an additional week of tryouts/practices during the week of September 12th through the 16th. This time will be utilized as extended evaluation time by coaching staffs to select the team that will represent your middle school in its respective sport of basketball or track.

The practice times at your middle school for next week can be found on this Middle School Tryout Practice Schedule. If you do not see your middle school listed, it means there were not enough sign ups to field a team. If you see a box with an “X” in it, that indicates there is no practice on that day.

Based on the adjusted timeline, the announcement of teams will be posted on the SDUSD Middle School Athletics website at https://sdusdathletics.com/middle-schools/ on Sunday, September 18th.

By announcing teams on that date it allows each middle school to have two regularly scheduled practices with their teams the week of September 19-23rd.

The full season of scheduled contests with times and locations will be released September 19th with our first contests taking place on Saturday, September 24th.

There are 15 spots per team and thus finalizing a roster is always a challenging time for every coach. We encourage you to have your student attend both days next week thus giving the coach a chance to assess each player’s ability.

We are looking forward to an exciting year of Middle School Athletics.
