Nov. 17th Mariner Meet-Up Starts!

Encourage your student to join our new club called Mariner Meet-Up. Dana Ambassador students will facilitate other students making new friends by running a series of fun activities in the LIbrary. This club is open to ALL students. Join us at lunch in the library every Thursday.

Nov. 18th Mix It Up Lunch!

Help us promote a welcoming environment at Dana by encouraging your child to participate in Mix-It-Up Lunch. This is an activity that encourages students to make new friends at lunch by sitting at a new lunch table, and practicing active listening skills taught to them by counselors during the prior week). Students will be provided with ice-breaker questions they can use to start conversations with other students for the purpose of making new friends. We would like to thank the Dana Counseling Department and ASB for organizing this event.

November Character Education

This month our Dana Mariner character education focuses on what it means to have gratitude and be grateful. Dana staff and counselors have been working with students to help them have gratitude for the things they have, not what they do not. We have shown students how gratitude leads to happiness. In addition, students will be filling out “Gratitude Grams” in their Language Arts classes during the month. They will think of someone they are grateful for, write a note to them, and deliver the gram, expressing their gratitude. Please promote gratitude at home. Focusing on all the positive things you have in your life will lead to a more positive outlook. Check out our student created broadcast for more information. 3+ Tardies = Detention

Students who are tardy to first period 3 or more times after Monday, November 14th will be assigned an after school detention.

We believe a child's academic success is dependent upon being present at school. When students arrive late to class on a regular basis, they miss valuable instruction and risk falling behind. In addition, the student may develop a harmful habit that will impact their future education and career. Please have a conversation with your student regarding the importance of arriving to class on time.

We understand as a  parent you may believe it is your fault your child frequently arrives late to school. We encourage you to adjust your morning schedule so your child can be dropped off on campus prior to 7:55 AM. We understand you may be facing childcare issues. We provide supervision on our playground for students dropped off between 7:30 and 7:55 AM. Please follow this link to contact our PrimeTime program for other childcare options.

We understand you may not be aware your child frequently arrives late to class. We encourage you to use PowerSchool to check your child's attendance on a regular basis. Follow this link to learn how to login to PowerSchool. We understand you may not be familiar with our attendance policy. Please review our Student Code of Conduct located in your child's planner or visit our website for more information.
