Letter from Our Interim Principal
Hello Dana Community,
A quick reminder that Friday, November 10, is a holiday as we celebrate Veterans’ Day. We
appreciate the service of those who chose to serve and protect our country with their selfless
work in our military. Students will return to school on Monday, Nov. 13.
I ask those of you who have yet to return the Impact Aid Program survey to please do so. The
deadline for submission of the electronic version of the form is TODAY. If you prefer to submit
the hard-copy blue form, please bring it to school tomorrow. Students can take that form to their
fourth period teacher. Thank you for helping us with this important survey.
Our next Friends of Dana and Correia (FoDaC) meeting is Tuesday, November 14, at 6:00pm in
the Dana Library. Please join us to participate in the parent community that supports both Dana
Correia Middle Schools.
If you need to pick up your student prior to our regular dismissal time, please bring your ID. We
need to verify your identity before releasing the child.
Many of you drop-off or pick up your child in front of school each day. Anyone moving through
the area knows it can get quite hectic. Please continue to be cautious as you drive in front of
the school. The flashing lights at the crosswalks are often hard to see, especially in the
mornings. Too many of the kids assume that all cars will stop if the lights are flashing; but that is
not always the case. Your careful driving during the arrival and departure times is very much
appreciated.

This is a family event and all students in attendance need to be accompanied with an adult - THIS IS NOT A DROP OFF EVENT

Parent Zoom Presentation on Internet Safety on Nov. 16 at 6pm
Dana parents are invited to attend an informational parent Zoom presentation regarding Internet safety. The Internet is an amazing place where kids spend a lot of time socializing and exploring. Unfortunately, there are risks involved when having access to so many digital platforms and cyber communities. It's really important for parents to stay informed about child cyber safety. The San Diego Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force (SD-ICAC) and the San Diego Police Foundation are providing tools to help families manage their online lives. Learn about cyberbullying, social networking, gaming, sexting, and online predators. Parents and guardians are invited to attend this important community event on Thursday, November 16th at 6pm. We will be providing the Zoom link closer to the date.
Sign Up Your Student to a Sport this Winter!
We currently have the following sign ups. We need at least 15 students to sign up for each sport by gender in order to run a team for the season.
Boys Soccer 8 signed up need 7 more
Boys Volleyball 4 signed up need 11 more
Girls Soccer 3 signed up need 12 more
Girls Volleyball 12 signed up need 3 more
Tryouts are December 4th and the last day to register is November 28, 2023.
