Safety
By now, we have all heard about the unfortunate incident that occurred at Correia Middle School last week. I just wanted to make sure you know that ALL of the Point Loma Cluster schools take school security very seriously and the Principals of all the PL schools have been collaborating since last weekend about how to ensure our schools are as safe as possible. Here at Dana, our AM and PM supervision has been increased (all entry and exit ways are staffed) and our gates lock at 8:05am and 3:00pm daily 12:50 pm on Thursday). During the school day, there is only one way into our campus…through our Main Office door which is locked throughout the school day. As you know, in order to access the Main Office, you must be buzzed in. Security cameras have been installed throughout the front of our campus and our office staff can see everyone who is coming and going in front of our school. Throughout our entire campus, our exterior fence line is 10 feet tall and is monitored frequently. Classroom doors are closed and locked throughout the day as well. During passing periods, staff are in the hallways and around the campus supervising students. We have also partnered with SDPD and our SDUSD Police force to have regular walkthroughs, drills, and trainings. Our nearest SDUSD School Police Officer, Officer Halo, is stationed at PLHS and is ready to support us whenever necessary. Our campus is secure but we will continue to make improvements whenever necessary. If you have any questions about Dana’s security, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me at [email protected]. SSC Elections
School Site Council (SSC)/ School Governance Team (SGT) – our first meeting will be held on Monday 9/27 @ 3pm via Zoom. These meetings are open to the public. If you would like to attend, please email Principal Longo ([email protected]) for the Zoom link. Although these meetings are open to the public, the core members of the SSC are an elected body of volunteers. The call for nominations was sent out via School Messenger today, Friday, 09/15/23. Nominations must be submitted by Sunday, September 17, 2023 at 9:00pm,

Tutoring
Homework club is starting on Monday, September 18, 2023! This year students will be able to attend Homework Club on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays in the Dana Middle School library from 2:55 p.m. - 3:55 p.m. Thank you to FODAC for sponsoring Homework Club again this year!
